Winter hike in Luosto

Another late-winter hike on a beautiful sunny day. The route started from Luosto center and led to the Ukko-Luosto hut and summit, then continued toward Orresokka hill - but didn’t attempt the summit, as the steep western side is unsafe to climb in snowy conditions. From there, I headed to Kantapäävaara hill and its shelter.
The final stretch back to Luosto from Kantapäävaara proved a bit challenging. The snowshoe trail wasn’t well-trodden, and the snow—hardened by the previous night’s frost—softened in the afternoon sun. With only boots on, it made for slow going. Fortunately, the snow was not so deep anymore.
