Awesome hike! It is challenging but very rewarding. We were in awe of the Alps.
From the valley, immediately the hike is beautiful going through Perruchon and Petit Mont Blanc.
Stunning views of the valley and opposing mountain range. Lots of cottages, sheds, ruins that catch the eye.
Halfway through a huge meadow, as if "the hills are alive, with the sound of music"!
It is very special to have lunch at Ristoro Lago Muffè. Strongly recommend - but make a reservation. We thought we would be alone at the start of April, but it was very busy. They have a changing menu, with classics such as polenta with veggies, and Zuppa Valdostana.
For us it was the first time to visit such a Rifugio, and we were so happy and inspired. The German lady helping out with serving that day was very nice, and had a chat with us about the Rifugio, how she came to live in the Alps, just very welcoming.
At Lac Muffè you have a wide view of many mountain tops. Such as La Torretta.
At the start of april in 2026, there was still quite some snow! We should have brought snow shoes because with our hiking boots we kept sinking far down into the snow.
