It had been too long since I last saw my good friend Rob Hyde who knows this part of the world like the back of his hand, and is consistently brilliant at devising picturesque routes.

A swift escape from the urban sprawl thrust us into the gorgeous hills, lanes and woods of Surrey, Kent and East Sussex (just). Hilly enough to deserve a reward, so we finished with a pint and excellent food at The Earl of Derby.
