Gravel riding
You start at Saalfelden train station, from where the route begins with a leisurely ride along the Tauern Cycle Path towards Weißbach and Lofer. After a short stretch along the Saalach River, the real gravel adventure begins.
The route leads onto one of the most beautiful gravel sections anywhere – past Donnersbach and Innersbach to Aschau, above the impressive Aschau Gorge. Closed tunnels, deep views into the rocky landscape, and endless gravel paths make this section particularly impressive.
Crossing the border, you reach Unterjettenberg and from there follow the German Alpine Road to the picturesque Hintersee. After a short breather, the challenging climb to Hirschbichl awaits you. At the top, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking mountain panorama.
The return journey is a fast descent on asphalt to Weißbach, followed by a leisurely ride back to Saalfelden along the Tauern Cycle Path.
