If you were to follow Wippermann's HH mountain tour # 56 unchanged, you would already be at your destination after 1 1/2 kilometers: a patch of sand in the forest that stands out about one meter above the surroundings. This is not even a mountain according to Wippermann's definition (it should stand out 5m from the surroundings). This mountain tour would have been the biggest failure of all his tour suggestions, were it not for the Besenhorster Sandberge, which are not marked in terms of height, but feel like "mountains". Wippermann probably did not list them because they are already in Schleswig-Holstein territory. It doesn't matter to me. An interesting side aspect of this tour: the numerous ruins of the former gunpowder factory, which secretly produced dynamite here for a long time. In the last days of the war, the facility was heavily bombed and completely destroyed. Since then, nature has been reclaiming the area, which has now even become a nature reserve. 🔹 My route follows the [Düneberger Sandberge circular route]. https://www.geesthacht-tourismus.de/tour/wanderweg-besenhorster-sandberge https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulverfabrik_Düneberg
