The Landwehr-Bräu beer hiking trail of the brewery in Reichelshofen is 11 kilometers long. Starting from the brewery, where beer has been brewed since 1755, the hiking trail leads to a small village pond with a rest area. It continues along the Fischbach to Steinsfeld, where two restaurants with beer gardens invite you to take a break. The trail leads via Hartershofen, past the Gypshüte and through the forest back to the starting point in Reichelshofen. There are 15 stations on the beer trail waiting to be discovered. Here, visitors not only learn interesting facts about Franconian beers, but also many other exciting details about the history of beer production. A beer culture highlight is the Franconian Brewery Festival, which takes place every year on the first weekend in August. All information and the current program can be found at: http://www.fraenkisches-brauereifest.de
Today's hike should again be within half an hour's drive from Ansbach. We then went through the hiking maps of the "Main-Tauber area" and got stuck on the LT30 "Beer hiking trail Landwehr-Bräu" from Reichelshofen. Start and finish is the brewery restaurant in Reichelshofen. A small blue label with a beer mug on it serves as a marker - somehow logical. The path leads out of Reichelshofen in the direction of the autobahn and then after about 1km right into a forest and from there on to a nature trail on the Endseer Berg. The nature trail is designed to be very entertaining and interesting and you can learn a lot about the local gypsum mining and its processing. It is very nice that the dayworks that are no longer needed are being renatured again. For example, one part is reforested and another pit becomes a biotope, where, judging by the traces, a beaver feels at home. The path leads past a gypsum processing company to the "Aischradweg" (this leads from Rothenburg o. D. T to Bamberg). We are on the railway line to the right to the small village of Hartershofen. The houses are designed with half-timbering as well as more modern in terms of the facade. You go through the village to Steinsfeld. There are also a few interesting half-timbered houses on the way. Pass the church on the right and slowly take the path towards Reichelshofen again. On the way you pass a small biotope and 2 benches with a table and memorial stone - a small invitation to rest. You have to be careful on the road between Steinsfeld and Reichelshofen. Here the path has apparently been redesigned. The old and much more pleasant path leads straight across the road to Ellwingshofen, while the newer one leads along the busy road directly to Reichelshofen and the starting point. And now I'm already at, for myself and my wife, the crux of the actually very scenic circuit - the route. For our taste there are a lot of paved paths that lead along busy roads or cross them. The most beautiful thing for us was the nature trail on the "Endseer Berg", but to get there you have to cross a busy intersection with a turning lane. It may still work on Sundays, but the street in the turning lane leads to the plasterworks where work is carried out 24/7. I don't really like to imagine the traffic with trucks. Otherwise, as mentioned, a very scenic tour, whereby for us the absolute highlight in the forest was the biotope "Fjord". Unfortunately, we couldn't end the round with a beer, as the brewery restaurant did not open again until 5:30 p.m. If you make it in time, you can stop off in Hartershofen or Steinsfeld.
Like yesterday, today, on my second day off, I wanted an easy hike (open blister on my foot) that was doable in slippers. So, I headed toward Rothenburg and hiked along the lovely Taubertal trails: LT 30 Wehrbräu Beer Trail. Unfortunately, I found the loop quite boring. I even got lost once because the signs were overgrown. Nothing spectacular to see along the way, which is a shame. BUT: still better than sitting at home. 👌🥾🌿☀️🍺
