The Schaumburger Land Tourismusmarketing e.V. offers a total of 7 themed cycle routes, of which we have already presented 5 on Komoot. Today it's the turn of "Castles and Mansions", which starts in Bückeburg at the train station. Actually, the tourism managers could have saved themselves this tour, because many sections of the route correspond to the routes of other tours. For example, the "Landpartie Bückeburg", the "Schaumburger Mühlenroute" and the "Fürstenroute" can be found in some passages. And if you would like to cycle up to the Schaumburg or the Paschenburg, you don't necessarily have to follow this themed route, but could find a suitable starting point somewhere nearby. The same applies, of course, to visiting the pretty towns of Bückeburg and Rinteln, where Möllenbeck Monastery would easily be included in a circular tour, or you can cycle the "Churches & Monasteries" route from Rinteln. In addition, the signage in Rinteln is totally confusing. Nobody can see through the chaotic forest of signs anymore!! If we hadn't had a track on board, the tour would have turned into an odyssey, especially in Rinteln. It's a good thing that our smartphone held out and didn't go on strike. Conclusion: The tour is far too long, and that's probably why no one has completely cycled it yet. If you expect numerous castles and mansions on the signposted route, you will be disappointed. Bückeburg Castle and Arensburg Castle, that's it. We therefore recommend that you opt for a different theme bike route in Schaumburg!!
On the last day of May and the first real summer day with temperatures over 25 degrees ☀️, we set off on the signposted 🚴♀️ "Castles and Manor Houses" circular tour through the beautiful Schaumburg region. A 🚴♀️ tour just to my taste, as it alternated between waterfront paths 🌊 (Weser Cycle Route 👌) and forest paths 🌳 (Weser Mountains and Harrl). My personal highlights today were the fantastic view down into the Weser Uplands and the quaint little "Harrl" mountain range between Bad Eilsen and Bückeburg, which, with its Ida Tower, unexpectedly beckoned us to stop 🍺 in the middle of the forest 👍. And, of course, not to forget the Weser Cycle Route and the floodplain landscape around Bückeburg 😇. Copied from the official tour of WeserberglandTouristik: Castles & mansions in the Weserbergland. But the part south of Rinteln was left out and the number of kilometers was shortened from the original 84 to 67. Parking in Bückeburg, e.g. B. in the Evesen district near the football field. Pass the Bückeburg train station to Bad Eilsen. Past the Aueradweg to Steinbergen. From here a gravel route through the ridge of the Weser Mountains. Past the Schaumburg and then steeply downhill via Welsede and Großenwieden onto the Weser cycle path to Rinteln. Here, a stroll through the old town and a coffee break in Café Sinke. Back to Steinbergen to Bad Eilsen. Another gravel route through the “Harrl” to Bückeburg and here a detour to Bückburg Castle. Around the Gevattersee to the starting point. Great tour with lots of climbs, gravel roads and castles.
