Research in 1918 and 1944, conducted by A.E. van Giffen, has shown that two burial mounds on the crest of the Havelterberg date from the Iron Age. The associated residential area and the characteristic rectangular fields from that time, the Celtic fields, extend on the southern flank of the Havelterberg. Unfortunately, a large part of this has now disappeared as a result of previous reclamation and the construction of a German airfield during the Second World War.

Berend Boer's Hole was nothing special, and the narrow-gauge railway was a pile of scrap metal. The Butterfly Garden was nice; they sat on my hand and clothes. The walk across the heath was beautiful. We also encountered a slow worm, a lizard, a grass snake, and an adder sunning themselves on the path.
