Grimwith Reservoir

Highlight • Viewpoint

As far as reservoir goes, this is quite a scenic one.
Within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, east of Grassington.
It has a sailing club and is a popular spot …

Grimwith Reservoir valve tower

Highlight • Monument

This is looking a bit like a spaceship, but this is in fact a valve tower and overflow weir for the reservoir. It's a very striking and strangely modern building, particularly in these natural surroundings.

Hebden Village

Highlight • Cafe

A small village a short way from the River Wharfe and the Dalesway footpath. There is an excellent cafe, The Old School House, which is well worth a visit.

Bridge over Blea Gill

Highlight • Viewpoint

A nice bridge here over Blea Gill (sometimes called Blea Beck), at the foot of the wooded slopes of Bracken Haw. Definitely worth stopping here and looking at the reservoir, which is looking rather lovely from this quiet spot.

High Shaws Laithe Thatched Barn

Highlight • Monument

A historic and thatched 18th century barn right next to the reservoir, which was restored using heather from this area to make it look like what it was 150 years prior. A pretty special place.
