Rudelsburg

Highlight • Castle

Not only do you have a great view here, but you can also stop off at the inn. Very beautiful castle, more beautiful than Saaleck Castle in my opinion.

Saaleck Castle

Highlight • Castle

Saaleck Castle is the older of the two castles. It was built around 1050 as a border castle to protect a trade route. It has been uninhabited and derelict since 1585.

A heavy thunderstorm is forecast for 2 p.m. today, so we shorten the planned tour a little and drive to Lengefeld and park on Thüringer Strasse. We quickly get the first short section of the route along the road behind us. At Bad Kösen main station we turn into the spa park. Passing the weir, we take a closer look …

Cheated with the girls, not the Harz. Nice round around Bad Kösen. Unfortunately, the Käthe Kruse Museum was closed, but the Rudelsburg and Burg 🏰 Saaleck compensated us.

Golden autumn: very nice tour via Rudelsburg, Saaleck Castle to the Kingdom of Heaven. Thanks Komoot for this recommendation.

After the intense heat, the entire staff headed to Bad Kösen in perfect hiking weather. Our route led past the graduation tower and on to Rudelsburg Castle and Saaleck Castle. Lunch was ordered at Himmelreich—and the delicious meal came with a fantastic view. It was a truly wonderful "workday." 😉

We were able to enjoy a wonderful hike around Bad Kösen, Rudelburg, and Saaleck Castle, as well as the "Himmelreich" (Heavenly Kingdom), with a delicious culinary finale at Villa Ilske. Thank you, Andrea, for the fabulous organization of the last few days in your wonderful hometown. 😘

Very, very nice tour - certainly even more impressive in 14 days with even more foliage coloring - not only is it worth climbing the tower, the way to the kingdom of heaven is also worth it 👍

I spontaneously looked for a bit of forest, water and a few hills the evening before.
