You only have to walk the road between kilometer 8.3 and about 10 if you are "can hunting". Otherwise you can use the parallel dirt road. This is separated from the road by a high earthen wall and you hardly notice any traffic noise.

I tried to walk around the Feerner Moor today. Unfortunately, there's no direct circular route, so you have to use roads at times. There's also no viewpoint or other access point. Still, it was a nice hike, especially the sections in the Rüstjer Forest. Few people, lots of birds, and hardly any mosquitoes.
