Serpentine Trail on Krausberg

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The narrow forest path leads from Krausberg to the Ahr valley - or vice versa. You hike mostly under the trees, but wonderful views open up again and again.

Krausberg Tower

Highlight • Monument

The view from the tower is fantastic. If you are coming from Dernau or Walporzheim, the descent to Rech is recommended. From there the train runs every hour back to the starting point.

Ahrsteig Trail

Highlight • Trail

Here you go up the Ahrsteig, sure-footedness is required here, as some of the paths are broken. There are also two viewing points on the way to the top.

May 5, 2024,Krausbergturm – Bergpfad vom/zum Krausberg Runde von Dernau
The section between points 8 and 9 is closed according to the signs, but we got through without any problems. It was a bit slippery after the rain, but doable. We didn't see any barriers.

Today we hiked to Krausberg again. The last tour was in winter. Everything was closed. Today you could sit there nicely🤠Unfortunately the tour had to be adjusted because several paths along the Ahr are still closed😳. It was supposed to be 17 km.

I took advantage of the best day of the week and did the round trip on the Krausberg. I hadn't been to the Ahr for a long time and the tour was all the more exciting. The major flood damage to the bridges and sewerage system has not yet been repaired, and there was some frustration. The highlight of the …

We found the tour varied. The climb to the Krausberg tower is strenuous, but you are rewarded with a great view. We also like the forest path that follows. Later on, it gets a bit boring on the wide forest paths. The Katzley really challenges us at the end. Poles would have been helpful on the descent. …

This preliminary hike for @Wanderzeit2 from the Eifelverein Bad Münstereifel showed how necessary it was. As a result, a change will be required to get around some particularly difficult passages.

A very nice but difficult tour with strong climbs to the Krausbergturm and later from Walportsheim to Katzenley. On the stretch from Walportzheim there was a very narrow, steep path that was blocked at various points by fallen trees. The descent is not entirely safe, extremely steep on a very narrow path.
