Bakuriani lies at 1700 m above sea level. NN on the northern slope of the Trialeti mountain range in the Little Caucasus. The place is considered to be Georgia's “winter sports capital”. It is popular with hikers in summer, surrounded by coniferous forests dominated by the Caucasian spruce. It lies in the Bakuriani Valley, which is a so-called caldera. The floor consists of the lava from the Mucheri volcano. The climate is relatively humid. Summers are long and warm, winters are cold. From November up to 64 cm of snow will fall.
