Sant Medir Hermitage

Highlight • Religious Site

The hermitage of San Medín is a sanctuary located in the Collserola mountain range, in the municipality of San Cugat del Vallés (Catalonia). Every March 3, the traditional meeting of San Medin is held there.[1] It is near the old Roman road from Egara (Tarrasa) to Barcino (Barcelona), which passing through Castrum Octavianum (Sant Cugat) entered the Collserola mountain range. through the Gausac valley (or Sant Medir valley).
Formerly called San Emeterio, the hermitage is of Romanesque origin, although due to the transformations it has undergone there are hardly any original traces left. It has a rectangular floor plan with a sacristy. Outside there is a bell tower and the entrance door.

Can Jané Farmhouse

Highlight • Restaurant

Can Jané, shelter in the middle of the Collserola forest.

An inn that welcomed travelers, giving them a place to sleep and a plate of soup and being a point of reference in Collserola for its hospitality.

One of the first unknowns that this farmhouse presents is precisely its name. There are documents that read can Gener or even can Generx, or also as can Jané or can Gener de Sant Medir.

The current owners comment that as far as they know, that is to say, about two hundred years ago, it has always been called can Jané. The mother of the current owner, Maria Coll, comments: “I remember that my grandfather always talked about Can Jané and so did his grandparents. The name January may have come from someone who confused the name with the month. It is also possible that Jané passed to Jané”.

As with all farmhouses, it is difficult to pinpoint when they appear. Regarding Can Jané, there are documents dated 1570 that already mention the farmhouse.

Iberian Kiln of Sant Cugat del Vallès

Highlight • Historical Site

The Iberian oven of Sant Cugat del Vallès is a well-preserved building located in the Serra de Collserola, next to the hermitage of Sant Adjutori, through which the Roman road from Bàrcino to Sant Cugat passed. It dates from the Roman Low Republican period (2nd and 1st centuries BC), and was completely renovated in 2003. It is of Roman type and retains the square fire chamber and remains of the cooking chamber. The oven was intended for baking pieces of work and roof tiles.
