Kurwaldbahn Upper Station

Highlight • Rest Area

The Kurwaldbahn was put into operation in 1979. In 2005, it was completely renovated for Rhineland-Palatinate Day and the two 25-person cabins were also replaced at that time.
The railway is in operation every day between 6:15 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. and runs every 10 minutes except between 6:15 a.m. and 8 a.m. (7 minutes).
The track is 220 m long and overcomes a height difference of 132 meters with a maximum gradient of 78%.
There are three ticket options. Single trip €3.50, up and down trip €6 and 10th ticket for €25.

Kurwaldbahn Funicular

Highlight • Structure

Those who don't mind the climb from the banks of the Lahn (or the city center) to the heights with the Bismarck Tower can take the funicular up to the top in two and a half minutes. Those staying for a few days (and paying the corresponding tourist tax) receive a free ride.

Bismarck Tower, Bad Ems

Highlight • Monument

One of the typical Bismarck towers built throughout Germany, recognizable by the three-quarter columns at the corners.
The tower cannot be climbed (no stairs inside) and now serves as a garbage can space for the attached restaurant. Unfortunately.
