Bubble Pond

Highlight • Lake

Like many of the lakes & ponds in Acadia, Bubble Pond was carved out of the rock by glaciers during previous ice ages. These days the calm waters are an excellent place to greet the day for sunrise, or relax for a bit while riding along the carriage roads.

Wheelchair accessible paved paths to the West of the parking lot and visitor center offer views of Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island. The Visitor Center has bathrooms, a gift shop, and a place to refill water bottles. The sun rises on the summit of Cadillac Mountain before any other land in the U.S., and in the summer every morning hundreds of visitors purchase tickets to drive up the Park Loop Road to watch the sunrise.
