This beautiful bridge passes over the Catasol River, but without a doubt what is most impressive is the greenery of the forest that surrounds it. Between ash and alder trees, the path advances through an atmosphere of pure air.

Church of Santa María in Melide

Highlight • Religious Site

The church of Santa María de Melide, listed as a National Monument, is the jewel of Romanesque Melide. It is a temple with a single nave ending in a semicircular apse at its head, with a shell vault, decorated with Renaissance paintings.

The triumphal arch is half-pointed and bent. The left capital is decorated with vegetal elements. The right is figurative: with open jaws, which within the Romanesque iconography seems to symbolize the fight of man against evil. The triumphal arch was closed by an iron gate from the 13th century, which is the only Romanesque gate that is preserved in Melide.

Ribadiso Medieval Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Ribadiso bridge is located next to the recreational area of the fluvial beach of the Iso river. Not only is the setting beautiful, but it also offers pilgrims a great opportunity to cool off and relax before moving on.

Rain again this morning. So the poncho had to be put on. We set off at 07.40. The poncho came off around 09.00. It got too hot under the poncho and the rain was almost over. Still, it kept drizzling regularly all morning.
The path regularly went through the forest with Eucalyptus trees, which smell like cat pee. Very nice …

It was only a short tour today and I was at my destination for the day by midday. I started a little later than usual, I think it was around 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., but the late start didn't really work out because some fellow pilgrims were nocturnal and were already up around 6:00 a.m made the way. Contrary …

Thank God we only had to walk a few kilometers today in the rain.

Stage 12: Melide to Arzúa – When paths merge and thoughts take flight
Today was themed: Short, entertaining, and full of memories. With only 16 kilometers, the shortest stage of this year's Camino lay ahead of me. As I set off at 7 AM, in mild 15-degree Celsius weather and a very fine, almost meditative drizzle, it was immediately noticeable: …

It was always up and down, but it was less strenuous than the last few days. We are used to the fact that there are always steep climbs that stretch for kilometers through the landscape 😃. Now we have to find a way to our accommodation, as it is about 10 km away from here and not on our route …

This morning I was like yesterday: no pilgrims on the way😅. The first 7 km were deserted. It was a lovely walk through the forest, and I was able to concentrate on the bird concert. I took my first break in the El Aleman cafeteria and was greeted with a nice "good morning" when I revealed that I was German. …
