Fire Watchtower on Turó Gros

Highlight • Monument

The Gros hill is not the highest of the mountain range, but it is close (764).

The watchtower raises you about 20 meters higher and from the top you have views of 4 bands:

1> On the coast and sea of La Selva and Maresma,

2> In Barcelonès (Collserola can be seen on the horizon), Bages and Vallès (Montserrat),

3> In the Gironès (you can distinguish the Rocacorba with the antennas) and 4> In the massif of Montseny and the castle of Montsoriu.

Getting here requires a lot of effort, but it's worth it!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Objective: rebuild the peace corner of Sant Martí del Montnegre
16/03/2016

A year ago the place suffered a vandal attack and now the Amics de Santa Maria entity, headed by Francesc Vivas from Calella, wants the corner to show off its splendor again.

Francesc Vivas, a lover of the mountain range and who spearheaded the reconstruction of the hermitage of Santa Maria del Montnegre, has explained that with a hammer blow some brats destroyed the "corner of peace of Sant Francesc d'Assís" and they took the image of the saint away, thinking it had more economic value than it really did. Vivas: "There was a pedestal, and on top of it was an image of Saint Francis that had been there for about 50 years. The image was looking up at the sky and praying. The sculpture was about one and a half meters tall and had a patina that appeared to be bronze. Then one night they came with mallets - these very big hammers - and they destroyed the pedestal and with the boom of a crane they took the image, which is now completely lost".

From October 4, 2023 we can once again enjoy the Raco de la Pau

Les Llobateres Bird Observatory

Highlight • Viewpoint

This wetland is called Les Llobateres. It is a wetland in the middle basin of the Tordera river.

The Llobateres wetland is the result of the operation and restoration of a gravel pit located within the municipality of Sant Celoni. This natural space has created an exceptional riverside landscape and an interesting observation point for flora and fauna of aquatic environments in the Tordera alluvial plain.

The vegetation on the banks of the Llobateres is made up of tree formations of willows, cattails, ash trees, elms and alder trees. There are also helophytic communities such as bogar and reed beds. The presence of a wetland of this size allows many water birds, such as the mallard duck, the kingfisher, the coot or the moorhen, among others, to find favorable habitats to feed. there

Among them we can find the sable, a species considered vulnerable as a result of the destruction of spaces linked to bodies of water. In space
