Icy cold, forced to stop for 5 minutes under a bus shelter to try to stop shaking...
But otherwise the peaks of Mercantour covered in snow in the distance, simply extraordinary!

Actually, "La Boucle de l'Izoard" was on the program today. After we drove a large part of it yesterday, today we limited ourselves to the Col d'Izoard. Very nice pass (the last 7 km). The approach through the valley (Gorges de Guil) is scenically grandiose, but unfortunately a national road.

I'm not in great shape, and I didn't choose the easiest route (high elevation gain/loss ratio) 😟 to start with.
35 years later, I returned to the Izoard. At the time, I climbed it with my panniers during a trip through the great Alpine passes from Nice to Nancy.
