Haddamshausen–Niederweimar Cycle Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

A well-developed cycle path runs along the district road between Haddamshausen and Niederweimar. It has only a few bumps caused by roots and is very easy to drive on.

Cycle Path at Mappesmühle

Highlight • Cycleway

On the Salzböderadweg you pass some mills, I find the narrow bike path along the old railway line and within sight of the Salzböde particularly beautiful. just a few meters further there is a nice resting place for bikers.

Celtic homestead at Dünsberg

Highlight • Historical Site

Information and Museum Education Center
The reconstruction of a Celtic farmstead on the Dünsberg, built in 2006, consists of a residential building (main building) and two outbuildings, which are modeled on storage and commercial buildings.
Access is through a reconstructed Keltentor, which gives a good insight into the construction of Celtic city walls.

The main building serves as an information and educational center, where the history, in particular about the life of the Celts on Dünsberg and the flora and fauna of the Dünsberg is informed.
The small building erected as a pile dwelling is a free reconstruction of a storage building excavated on the eastern spur of the Dünsberg. Such "four-post stores" belonged to the farms throughout the Celtic period. Among other things, the pile dwelling prevented pests from reaching the stocks stored here (eg grain).

The Celtic homestead is to give the visitors everything worth knowing in an overall presentation before entering the world of the Dünsberg, whereby the Celtic culture has a prominent position.

Opening hours: April-October (at the opening days of the rest area)
Wednesday (during the summer holidays) and Saturday: 13:00 - 17:00 Sunday 10:00 - 17:00
