In Kellenhusen, you will mostly find a fine-sandy main beach, but the water is often pebbly. For a real, natural stone beach, it is best to hike north towards Klostersee (Kellenhusener Forst). There you will find plenty of stones, flints, and fossils.

Dahmeshöved Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

Nice lighthouse between Dahme and Kellenhusen. Can be approached either on a walk or a bike ride.

The Dahmeshöved lighthouse stands on a coastal promontory about halfway between Fehmarn and Travemünde.

The octagonal tower was built entirely from bricks in 1878 and 1879. It is 28.8 meters high, which means that the beacon is 33.7 meters above sea level.

The neighboring smaller brick tower was built in 1939 to give the lighthouse keeper an opportunity to monitor the visibility.

During the German-German division, the Dahmeshöved lighthouse had a special meaning for the GDR citizens, because it was a point of reference when escaping across the Baltic Sea as the so-called "light of freedom".

Those who are more interested in the lighthouse can also visit it with an expert guide. The opening times - in the season from April to October - are: Sunday to Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. every half hour.

A beautiful view, partly difficult to drive on, narrow and unpaved.

Short bike tour with a promenade visit to some Baltic Sea coastal villages.
Unfortunately, as everywhere else, the prices in the snack bar/restaurant have increased significantly.

Today we went to Grömitz, always along/over the dike. The place is quite a bit bigger and has a really beautiful beach. Of course there is also a pier where you can dive down to the seabed...
Had a nice tasty snack and a drink 😉😁
Like everywhere up here, without a Baltic Sea card you can't go to the …
