May 1, 2024,01.05.2024 Ruine Hohengundelfingen und Burg Derneck
May 1st, tour through the Lautertal with the Hohengundelfingen ruins and Derneck Castle in a combination of the two 'high walkways' there.

At first quite hazy, with Saharan dust, then clearer and consistently pleasantly warm, like early summer.

On day 2 of our hiking weekend on the Swabian Alb 🌞 we do the premium trail "hochgehswiggert" of the Hochgehberge series. It starts right at the Hotel Wittstaig, where we stayed last night.

First, the narrow path leads steeply uphill to the imposing Hohengundelfingen ruins 🏰. We enjoy the breathtaking view of Niedergundelfingen Castle and the valley.

The Bürzel viewpoint is located above the village of Gundelfingen in the Großer Lautertal. The Steighof hiking car park is very close by. The view from there extends far over the Great Lautertal and Niedergundelfingen Castle. Hohengundelfingen Castle flashes out of the forest.

Finally overcome the weaker self and a small tour in the big Lautertal.

With an impressive group of 12 people, we went from the
➖ Hohengundelfingen hiking car park (near Dürrenstetten) to the
➖ Hohengundelfingen castle ruins, which we reached after a few minutes. Of course, we first explored the castle …

Today on foot in the Great Lautertal and initially surprised by the many people and full parking spaces everywhere. Well, I'm usually in this area during the week for biking.
Unfortunately, Derneck Castle is too early on our route, so we won't stop there today.
The way to the vantage point Bürzel is very nice on the last 500m, much …
