A well-developed and paved cycle path around the Outer Lake. The quality deteriorates significantly further along.

Ziegelsee lakeside cycle path

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

This viewpoint is located on a hilltop. There are two benches on the dirt road.

The bike path is excellent...it's easy to climb if you're coming from Schwerin.

But anyone should be able to climb this little hilltop.

The view is fantastic.

Highlight • Lake

You can quickly cycle around the Pfaffenteich, but you'll be sharing the path with pedestrians. It's quite easy to get along. Where you enter the pedestrian zone, there's outdoor dining with a view of the fountain—nice 😉

Schwerin Castle

Highlight • Castle

This magnificent jewel is located directly on Lake Schwerin. Schwerin Castle is certainly one of the most beautiful in Germany. I couldn't decide which side is the prettiest. Whether at sunset from the lake side or with the beautifully landscaped castle park in the foreground. After the walk, you can also visit the fairytale castle from the inside as part of a guided tour.

After the death of the popular Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II - the builder of the castle in Schwerin - his son commissioned the construction of a monumental statue. The object was financed through donations. It is considered the only historical equestrian statue in all of Mecklenburg.

The work of the Mecklenburg sculptor Ludwig Brunow was ceremoniously unveiled in 1893 - in the presence of high-ranking state guests such as Emperor Wilhelm II and Grand Duke Vladimir of Russia, as well as everyone who was of rank and name in the Mecklenburg court nobility. Inspired by the equestrian statues of Roman emperors and the Prussian Elector in Berlin, it was designed according to the typical, mostly military-influenced taste of the late 19th century. The figures of the Grand Duke and his horse stand on a marble base more than 4 m high.

The base is surrounded by allegories of the 4 ruler virtues: strength, justice, wisdom and faith. Two commemorative plaques show events from the reign of Friedrich Franz II - the construction of the new university building in Rostock and the Grand Duke's arrival in Schwerin in 1871.

The monument survived two wars and two dictatorships with great luck. It escaped being melted down for war purposes, the iconoclasm after the end of the war and being scrapped.

April 20, 2025,Einmal um den Schweriner See🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️☀️🐰
Today we were able to cycle around Lake Schwerin in sunshine. I wish you all a happy Easter.🐰☀️🚴‍♀️

At the start of our tour around Lake Schwerin, we drove to Bad Kleinen by car today.
The paths around the lake run through a very beautiful, varied landscape and the south-westerly wind, which has now been significantly refreshed, gave the tour an unexpectedly sporty character ;-)
We enjoyed a simple but very tasty meal on the terrace of the …

Anyone who visits Schwerin should definitely take this tour. All types of paths are included, and all routes can be ridden with a trekking bike. The landscape is varied, it goes up and down and there are many opportunities to cool off in the lake. There are several places to stop and shop. The café in the Wiligrad farm shop …

Südufercamping, (Raven-Steinfeld) Schwerin
Due to the parking situation, we were allowed to drive to the campsite before 3 p.m. A nice welcome, a small, well-kept campsite. Sanitary facilities are a bit older and clean.   There are still coin-operated shower machines here, 2 euros for 3 minutes of hot water. When you re-enter the site, you are asked where you want …

A very varied, natural tour. On the northeastern side of the lakes, the paths are often natural and quite strenuous for trekking bikes.

So today the outer lake! It started in beautiful but cold sunny weather.
After Seehof in the direction of Lübstorf to Wiligard Castle, really beautiful 👍 we went to the egg tunnel in Bad Kleinen, the entrance is superbly "sprayed" and simply brilliant 🙂
In Hohen Viecheln it was lunchtime on the jetty, soaking up the sun. Then I was …

This tour was a treat. I'm incredibly proud of my son. Who mastered this on his 80s Mifa coffee racer, without gears let alone E support. In wind and weather. And accompanied me on my '76 Peugeot Cheshire Cat. There were kilometers of pure relaxation, free of everyday thoughts. Thank you my (B) angel.🤗👍

I haven't done this tour for a long time. It's been two years. This time I visited Reppiner Burg. In this beautiful weather, she was illuminated by the sun 🌞. We will now enjoy Wednesday together. I wish you a nice week. Greetings Jörn 👍
