Former Geographical Center of the European Union (Meerholz)

Highlight • Monument

Interesting that the geographical center of the European Union was once here. However, as new countries were repeatedly admitted to the EU, the point shifted again. Connecting these points creates the so-called Mittelpunktsweg (center path).

Whether it's a trail or a track, these large and small hiking trails through the Hessian Spessart are simply beautiful! They are often accompanied by other circular routes such as adventure trails or cultural trails, always lead through wonderfully light-flooded deciduous forests and often allow for wide views over the valleys of the Vorspessart. The Hailer-Meerholzer-Rauen-Berg-Spur starts at the Meerholz …

Edit: Almost six weeks after the hike, the board is up and the track name now adorns the tour title 🙂.

Before the weather gets even better and people attack the woods, I did my job as a trail sponsor again today and checked the condition of "my" Spessartspur. Everything is fine, nothing to complain about 🙂. If you need a small hiking snack, the trail is the best choice 👍.

Spring check of “my” Spessart track. Some stupid little tree uprooted a marker post. Impudence 😀. Otherwise everything is clean and as it should be :)

I've recently become a real trail sponsor for this Spessart trail. So today I did my volunteer work for the first time and made sure that everything is as it should be while walking the trail. Signs are hanging, no obstacles in the way, no damage to the road, no dirt, no rubbish, etc.

The "Hailer-Meerholzer Rauen-Berg-Spur" is a nice little round for in between. We've done it a few times and always love coming back.
This tour is ideal for everyone who wants to make a nice hike that is short and not very demanding in terms of terrain.

Greetings to @Seitan Dude
