Descent Over Large Rocks

Highlight • Trail

The large pebbles and pieces of stone make walking difficult on this path (sometimes a stream).

Tank that can normally be viewed here, has been to Bastogne for renovation.
Consolation... On this site you will find enough information boards that explain the special history of this Panther Tank.
In a nutshell:
On 19 December 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, the German unit of this tank, the 116. Panzer-Division, LVIII Panzerkorps, 5. Panzer-Armee, captured the town. On January 3, 1945, the Americans started a counter-attack and the German troops had to withdraw to the east on January 15, 1945. The tank was then upside down in the Ourthe, on the west side of Houffalize.
On September 20, 1948, the tank was taken out of the river by the engineers of Namur.
In 2017, the tank was taken apart for a two-year restoration. The tank is one of three surviving Panzerkampfwagen V Panther tanks in the Ardennes, alongside those of the Tank Monument in Celles and Tank Monument in Grandmenil.

Now we wait and look forward to the return of the tank.

Houffalize World Cup Circuit

Highlight • MTB Park

Route made for the world cup in Houffalize. Possible for everyone, but be prepared to walk certain segments uphill and even downhill if your technical skill set is insufficient.

For the downhills: When in doubt just walk. These sections need to be taken with a certain minimal speed. At very slow speeds it will not be possible.

For the uphills: There are a couple very steep uphills immediatly after a u-turn of a technical decent. Be prepared to shift down, put your nose at your stem, the point of your saddle in a not so comfortable location and start putting the power down.

Have fun at this ±3km track and keep in mind the pro's do this about 10 times.
