Old Railway Bridge over the Fella

Highlight • Bridge

Crossing a bridge over a river by bike always has something mystical about it, especially if the bridge has a clear historical connotation as in this case.

The weather was mediocre, but no rain. There had been rain the night before. Along the way, we passed through many long and short tunnels. The highlight was the town of Venzone, which was almost completely destroyed in an earthquake in 1976. However, the locals faithfully rebuilt it. Overall, a beautiful and varied tour.

Showing Translation

At the start in Pontebba we first went up the railway embankment with a 25% gradient, but that was only a short stretch.

The heavy rain that continued all night and all day meant that most of the snow on the bike path melted away or turned into ice. It was possible to ride or slide in places, but I was able to make progress. Below the snow line, it went by itself. The rain should have stopped there, but unfortunately it didn't.

The cycle path through the Val Canale is truly uniquely beautiful

This section is driven on old railway lines and old railway bridges.
Through many tunnels .. Partly 650 m long (pitch dark and freezing).
Through valley cuts to the goal.
