Famous water wheel of Groppello d'Adda built around 1600 and probably designed by Leonardo da Vinci. The locals affectionately call it 'el rudun', that is, the big wheel.

Vaprio d'Adda

Highlight • Settlement

Vaprio d'Adda is the first town to meet along the Adda cycle path (Martesana canal) after Cassano d'Adda (about 6 km). It is one of the many villages along the stretch of the river that has seen a particular development since the times of the early Renaissance with the villa Melzi d'Eril, just overlooking the towpath, in that living room for two years Leonardo da Vinci, the house of guardian of the waters, right on the Adda embankment which was intended as the "royal house" for the control of the passages on the river for the payment of duties. Further on, the Castelbarco villa (in the photo the mill wheel on the towpath). Then we have some historical factories such as the Velvis cotton mill (in the photo) of the Visconti di Modrone and the Sottrici Bindi paper mill, born in 1800 in the middle of industrial development, also due to the proximity of the Adda river.

Adda River cycle path near Trezzo

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

26.2 km

The family cycle path, well paved and substantially level, with lots of restaurants overlooking the river is worth a visit. Towards the central social cooperative with tavolacci, sliced cheeses and polenta. But for more adventurous routes (sometimes with real all mountain bikes) you just have to cross the river and go backwards to find yourself immersed in stony and steep paths especially from the initial side of Paderno. The final stretch towards Trezzo is surrounded by greenery. Giro the latter I repeat not suitable for families but for skilled drivers with suitable means.

April 1, 2025,Da Pozzo d'Adda alle Centrali Edison, attraversando Inzago e costeggiando l'Adda
Starting from Bettola, in Pozzo d'Adda, you reach Inzago on a short stretch of secondary road. Once you reach the bridge in the village, you follow the Martesana canal on a cycle path until you reach Trezzo, where you enter the dirt path that runs along the Adda, up to the Edison power plants. Return on the same track and, …

December 15, 2024,Il freddo nelle ossa!
You know, when you go out in the fog in December you can't complain about the cold. The fog sticks to you, gets under your clothes until it reaches your bones. In vain you wait for a ray of sunshine that damn 3B Meteo had predicted would come out around 11. Nothing. Frozen hands and feet. Wouldn't you have been …

First bike ride since the beginning of the year on a beautiful sunny day. Low temperature but if it's sunny you can cycle without problems, apart from your feet which are always cold :-).
