Marais des Salines Wooden Bridge

The Marais Bridge is a reinforced concrete bridge built at the beginning of the 20th century for the Yffignac-Matignon railway line of the Petit Train des Côtes du Nord. It was designed by the architect Louis Harel de la Noë and is part of a series of works which have made it possible to develop tourism in the department. The bridge has been recently restored and hosts the greenway and the Euro Vélo 4.

The bridge offers a view of the Plurien lagoon, a marsh that lives to the rhythm of the tides and is home to lush vegetation. It is an ideal place for walking and observing nature. The GR®34 also passes over the bridge and leads to fine sandy beaches and pink sandstone cliffs.

At low tide, rocks and small tidal pools emerge, and the expansive view across the bay extends all the way to Cap Fréhel. Since the beach is only accessible via narrow paths and lacks any tourist infrastructure, it remains a quiet spot—ideal for hikes, nature observation, and moments of tranquility by the sea.

Caroual Viaduct

Located on the edge of the seafront in Caroual, the Caroual viaduct is a work of art on the departmental railway line linking Saint-Brieuc to Saint-Briac, built between 1913 and 1916 by the engineer Briochin des Ponts et Roads, Harel de la Noë.
With a total length of 109.25 m, maximum height 17.50 m, useful width 4.22 m, it includes a central arch with a span of 45 m and is made of local pink sandstone masonry and reinforced concrete.
The “little train of the Côtes du Nord” will bring generations of summer visitors to Erquy, from July 11, 1922 to December 31, 1948, the date of its final shutdown.
The Caroual Viaduct was transferred to the municipality by administrative act of September 18, 1959.
