Well, the stage is also part of the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path.
Not the prettiest route, from Meschede to Freienohl it goes parallel to the main road. From Freiohl it's more on the Ruhr through nature. The old town of Arnsberg then again well worth seeing.
Conclusion if you skip this stage, you won't miss much.
