Fiery Birds Art Installation

Highlight • Monument

„Ogniste Ptaki” (Fiery Birds) was unveiled in 1975 on the embankment near the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes on the occasion of an exhibition of works by Władysław Hasior, a sculptor and painter from Zakopane. In the photograph by Zbigniew Wróblewski, a photographer from Szczecin, the installation can be seen in its full glory, standing in specially arranged flames.
Four years later, however, it had to be removed from there because the construction of the Castle Route was beginning. After several months of renovation by the creator, „Fiery Birds” ended up on the Polish-Soviet Friendship Square, now Plac Zgody. They were placed on a steel ramp, on a lawn between ul. Bogusława X and Obrońców Stalingradu (now Bałuki).
In 1989, the construction of a new tenement house began at this location, so there was no longer space for the artistic installation.
They were put into storage for five years. They require conservation work.
Eventually, „Fiery Birds” landed in Kasprowicz Park.

Kasprowicz Park

Highlight • Natural

The park is located on the slopes of the so-called Niemierzyńska Valley on Lake Rusałka and is an extreme part of the Wkrzańska Primeval Forest.
Originally, it was named Quistorp Park in honor of Johannes Heinrich Quistorp, who handed over the neighboring areas to the city: Jasne Błonia Square (then called the German Quistorp Aue) and the Arkona Forest (until 1945 German Eckerberger Wald).

Różanka Rose Garden

Highlight • Natural Monument

The current park, opened for walkers on April 20, 2007, was established in the place of Różanka - Rasarium/Rosengarten established in 1928 on the occasion of a gardeners' convention and expanded in the 1930s.
The park is a place for walking, but also a stage for art - for several years in the summer season, on Saturdays and Sundays, various concerts, workshops for children and dance parties are held here. More than nine thousand roses in 99 varieties have been planted in the garden, as well as other valuable plant species.
In the southern part of the complex, developed with perennial plants, a fountain was built, consisting of two reservoirs (upper and lower). Its part were sculptures of four birds (geese or swans) by Kurt Schwerdtfeger, hence the name "Bird well".
