Description
The Pike Creek – William M. Redd, Jr. Park loop from Milford Crossroads is a fantastic mountain biking route that delivers on fun, flowy singletrack. This moderate 14.0-mile (22.6 km) loop, with 959 feet (292 metres) of elevation gain, can be completed in about 2 hours, making it an excellent choice for riders with good fitness looking for an engaging intermediate experience.
What to expect on Pike Creek – William M. Redd, Jr. Park loop from Milford Crossroads
You'll find yourself winding through beautiful hardwood forests and open hayfields on packed earth singletrack, offering a variety of intermediate technical features that keep things interesting. The route provides picturesque views, especially as you pass through towering mature forests and along meandering creeks. While most of the trail offers pleasant twists and curves, be aware that a half-mile stretch around the Newark Reservoir is noted for being pitted and worn out, despite recent repaving efforts. This trail is best suited for mountain bikers who enjoy a mix of flow and some technical challenges.
Planning your visit
This loop is adjacent to the White Clay/Middle Run trail systems, allowing for longer rides if you choose to connect them. If you plan to link up with Middle Run from Redd Park, be prepared to navigate through church parking lots and exercise caution when crossing Possum Park Road due to traffic. The trail is generally suitable for all skill levels but does require good fitness to tackle the elevation gain comfortably.
