View of Lake Annecy

Highlight • Lake

The summit of La Tournette is just below and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the beauty of Lake Annecy and the surrounding Alps. The trail is challenging but rewarding, as it takes you through varied terrain, from lush meadows to rocky paths. Once you reach the viewpoint near the summit, you will be treated to stunning views that are well worth the effort.

La Tournette (2,351 m)

Highlight • Summit

Annecy mountain with a wonderful view of the lake and good views to Mont Blanc.

As an ascent in the early morning I recommend the way over Montmin. Parking at the church, then walk in the shade to the degree, continue on the Pointe des Frêtes and then across the balcony (must be snow-free) to the summit. Descent via the same path or to the Chalet de l'Aulp for a snack and from there to the valley. The last 40 vertical meters before the summit must be climbed and secured with chains. The trail is very cantilevered.

The classic ascent of the Chalet de l'Aulp is very crowded in summer and in the blazing sun.

Pointe des Frêtes

Highlight • Summit

Pointe des Frêtes rises to an altitude of 2,019 meters. The superb ridge path allows us to pass just under the point. The decor is truly spectacular!

I'm up, up!... the urge was too great and so I used the "beach day" of my Holden and climbed La Tournette, a fantastic vantage point high above the lake. During the ascent I was accompanied by a very friendly Scotsman ( what else 😉) , 65 years old, hitchhike through the world, sleeps outdoors and climbs summits... you get …

A truly beautiful route. Suitable for anyone in good physical condition. The route is varied, with some sections challenging, others easier. You'll climb through forests, grasslands, and rocks. And you'll definitely need hiking boots, or sneakers with excellent tread. Breathtaking views of Lake Annecy.

Very beautiful hike with beautiful views of Lake Annecy on the first part of the hike.
Different types of trails: rocky, dirt, with some snowfields but not on the paths.
Very busy first climb with a full parking lot from 9am.
But the loop allows you to find calmer paths on the other side of the Mamelon Vert.
Little extra …

Today we set our sights on La Tournette, which we can also see from our holiday home in Manigod 🙂
After we drove around the boulder in the morning, we were able to start the ascent from the parking lot while the temperatures were still pleasantly cool.
There was a very varied ascent with initially a lot of alpine meadows …

Hike with a magnificent view of Lake Annecy but relatively demanding. For experienced walkers because of the steep passage and some climbing with the help of a chain.
