Mühlebach - Hollow stone Alfdorf

Mühlebach - Hohler SteinMühlebach - Hohler Stein
The "Hasenrundweg" leads south of Alfdorf through gorges and blades on both sides of the Mühlebachs. The tour begins on the layers of the Unterjuras and leads over Rutschmassen of the Knollenmergels by the layers of the Stubensandstein. The "Bembemberlesstein" is a striking sandstone formation with many small depressions. The hiking trail crosses several small brooks cut in V-shape before the first large target, the Lorch Schiller Grotto, is reached. The path continues down to the Mühlebach and on the other side up again. At about half the height, the imposing cave stone surprises. Through a small stream that falls over a hard sandstone edge, the underlying softer sandstone is slowly eroded. A big, fallen down lump testifies to what strength is in the small stream and let the cave roof partially collapse.
Tip: The "Hasenrundweg" and the main hiking route 3 of the Swabian Albverein (section Lorch - Alfdorf) leads past the Hohle Stein!

Lower Castle in Alfdorf
The Lower Castle was built around 1550 on the edge of the Schweizertal.

The three-storey building with a steep pitched roof and side gables is now privately owned by the von Holtz family and unfortunately cannot be visited.

Contrary to expectations, the sky looks great. So I quickly picked out a nice route. I knew that I had already been to the Schillergrotte near Lorch and that I had planned a second round there - the Hasenrunde.
When we arrived by car shortly before Alfdorf, the weather changed dramatically. Heavy sleet rain made it difficult for us to …

Today we follow the rabbits! We start our hike in Alfdorf near the market square and walk over the "Upper Castle" and "Lower Castle" in the direction of Haselbach. The first few kilometers are on asphalt through wide meadows and fields over a plateau, always with a wonderful view of the Kaiser Mountains and Ostalb all around. Then we hike …

Went to Alfdorf today with Ramona as a small afternoon tour. In the heat, this route, which is mostly in the shade on beautiful, narrow forest paths, is very pleasant to walk.
Past the Bemberlesstein, the Elefantenfels, the Schillergrotte and the Hohlen Stein a very successful small round. Alfdorf also surprised me positively.

First of all - the hare 🐇 path in Alfdorf is great🤩🤩🤩 and a dream for everyone🥰🥰🥰 who likes root paths, gorges💦 and blades🪨. Sturdy shoes🥾 are definitely recommended, as some of the paths are either quite muddy (today the surface was frozen🥶) or have an almost alpine character. Sure-footedness is also an advantage‼️❗️ Please don't follow my path sooooo …
