Our first excursion of our long weekend took us to Epfendorf in the Black Forest-Baar-Heuberg region, on the lower reaches of the Schlichem River, which flows for 34 km from the Swabian Alb before emptying into the still-young Neckar River.

The Schlichemklamm nature reserve, nestled deep within a narrow gorge, was an absolute highlight.
