Great vantage point over Loffenau and Murgtal. In good weather all the way to France.
Table and benches available. Ants too, by the way ... ;-)

In fact, there aren't that many places in the area to enjoy distant views. But here you have the opportunity to do so.

Biodiversity with a magnificent view
The nature reserve "Lautenfelsen" offers a great diversity of species in a small space. The lute rocks are characteristic and eponymous. They are part of the rock group that protrudes from the mountain forest in the southeast of Gernsbach on the outskirts of Lautenbach. The ascent to the rocks is rewarded with a magnificent view over Lautenbach and the Murgtal. On a 3.2 km long circular route with three information boards you can explore the area and find out about its special features. The rocks, which rise almost 100 meters, consist of hard, gray to pink colored granite, the Forbach granite, named after the center of its occurrence.

Habitat for rare species
On the rocks you can find crust and reindeer lichen adapted to the extreme conditions and various mosses. Some lichens turn the rock walls sulfur yellow. On warm summer days you can marvel at the wall lizard and the steppe grasshopper while sunbathing. The common raven, the largest songbird in Europe, can be observed in the vicinity of the rock massif. Forest pines and oaks are stuck in the crevices and depressions, sparse grasses and heather grow on the dry, warm ledges. The flower-rich wet meadows offer a contrast in terms of temperature and humidity. Troll flowers, marsh marigolds and meadowsweet bloom here. Numerous species of butterflies such as imperial coat, swallowtail and Schillerfalter find nectar and their caterpillars in forage plants. Various types of wood form the image of the protected area: dry oak bushes, fir and beech forests on the slopes, ash and mountain elm forests on the scree and black alder stands along the streams.

Fine view of the small, idyllic village, which from here almost looks like a model railway house.

Illert Chapel, Lautenbach

At the Illertkapelle is a parking lot. The chapel is located on the small road between Loffenau and Lautenbach and very close to Lautenbach.

April 6, 2025,Lautenfelsen in der Heimat ❣️
Now back from the sound of the sea; into the springtime rustling of the forests back home. Distant views, seemingly endless, like the sea.

Actually, I just wanted to pick chives, but nature said: Keep going! Drive and relax.
