The old road between Tramin, Rungg and Kurtatsch leads through the vineyards high above the Adige Valley and offers cyclists and hikers numerous beautiful views as well as one or the other opportunity to rest.

Vineyards at Lake Caldaro

Highlight • Viewpoint

Lake Kaltern (Italian: Lago di Caldaro) is a lake at the junction of the Überetsch and the Unterland in South Tyrol (Italy). Lake Kaltern is one of the largest lakes in South Tyrol (although it is rather poor in terms of lakes) and is considered – along with Lake Klopein – the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. The water temperature reaches up to 28°C in summer, and the bathing season runs from May to September.

The eastern and western shores are mainly developed for tourism; the southern shore is reedy. In addition to swimming, other popular sports include rowing and pedal boating, sailing, and windsurfing. The latter benefit from the prevailing mountain and valley wind circulation and the afternoon ora wind. Motorboats are not permitted. There is also a signposted and easily accessible circular hiking trail around the lake.

The view from the vineyards to Lake Kaltern is simply wonderful. Unfortunately, there are only a few places that are freely accessible.

Vineyard Pathway in Frühlingstal

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The Valley of Spring is a botanical landmark. Its geographical name is Fabióntal. Because the valley is sheltered from the wind and bathed in sunshine, spring begins a little earlier here than elsewhere.

A very varied section of the route, running along well-maintained bike paths. Here, you can relax and enjoy the views and beautiful scenery. The tour is worth it!
