Den Hagelander Statue

Highlight • Monument

This bronze statue by artist Luc De Blick is intended to emphasize the role of Houwaart as a place where wine growing in Hageland first restarted, even though neighboring Wezemaal is perhaps better known as a wine village. Some of the driving forces in this were Senator Jos Daems and Mayor Marcel Saenen, with the Houwaarde Berg as the place where the flanks managed to attract professional wine growers. Start of the Hageland Blossom Route

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Here starts a beautiful road along the vloeiberg lookout post along which different types of orchards stand with beautiful blossoms in April. You can also descend on sunken roads to Tielts and in these roads you will find a chapel, wood anemones and in the built-up area magnolias

Tielt Church

Highlight • Religious Site

Situated on a hill, with tower, nave, transept and sacristies in neo-Gothic style from the 19th century. Older parts in the eastern wall of the transept (15th century) and in the iron sandstone wall of the choir (Gothic, 13th century?).

Lower, polygonal choir, built in late Gothic style (16th century) of brick and sandstone on a plinth of iron sandstone; vault with wooden panelling in Louis XV style (mid-18th century).

Furniture. In the transepts, polychrome wooden statues from the 16th and 17th centuries; poorly restored baroque side altars (circa 1700); Renaissance pulpit tub (1688); baroque baptismal font from the 17th century; against the south facade several grave crosses from the second half of the 18th century; against the choir, small stone Renaissance bas-relief (probably 16th century).
