What to expect on Lake Easton State Park – Whittier Tunnel loop from Hyak
Expect a varied ride primarily on dirt and gravel surfaces, making it perfect for gravel bikes with at least 32mm tires. The route follows sections of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail, offering views of the 697-acre Lake Easton, the Yakima River, and mixed coniferous forests. You'll traverse historic trestles and bridges, and pass through the short Whittier Tunnel. Planning your visit
A Discover Pass or a day pass is required for parking at Lake Easton State Park. The trail is generally flat with an easy-to-negotiate grade, but the sheer distance and elevation gain make this a difficult ride.
