Danube Cycle Path South Bank

Highlight • Cycleway

Almost the entire cycle path from Passau to Linz is perfect for racing bikes. Perfect asphalt almost continuously, almost no spots directly ON a federal road.

Aschach on the Danube

Highlight • Settlement

In Aschach an der Donau you'll find a good selection of restaurants and accommodations. The historic market square, with its medieval townhouses, colorful facades, and courtyards from the Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance periods, invites you to linger.

This imposing power plant generates 1,135 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year! Alone by the power of the water. Impressive! You can cross the Danube over the power station bridge and watch the whole spectacle up close.

My travel companion is enthusiastic about today's stage. Especially at the beginning. The first 33 kilometers are extremely romantic in the narrow river valley, in the clearing morning fog and the impending imperial weather right along the bank, on the most delicious asphalt, with a tailwind and without any cars.
