In Schlögen on the Schlögener Schlinge, you can take a rustic, small wooden ferry for little money. If you are out by bike and want to relieve your buttocks, the short hike to the viewpoint (signposted) is ideal: about 30 minutes walk away and offers great views of the loop.

Pure relaxation in the "natural wonder region" Donauschlinge Schlögen
In Schlögen, the Danube turns 180 degrees in a tight bend from southeast to northwest and back again. Here at the foothills of the Sauwald, it made its way through the Bohemian massif in several meanders. Before the Schlögener Loop was tamed by the construction of the Aschach power station, it was considered to be one of the most dangerous places on the Danube for shipping. In 2008, the unique natural setting was voted Upper Austria's No. 1 natural wonder by readers of the OÖ Nachrichten.
