The Fernpass with its gravel and washed out sections is a real challenge. Once at the top, one highlight after another pours out, which you never see as a car driver. just lovely.

April 30, 2023,Von Garmisch zum Gardasee - Etappe 2 Biberwier - Imst - Landeck - Prutz
Today we went on the 2nd stage over the Via Claudia Augusta from Biberwier via Imst and Landeck to Prutz. The first 10 km were the hardest, it was the drive up the Fern Pass. We were rewarded with fantastic views. A little snack at the Fernpass and then we continued straight away. The descent to Fernsteinsee, a lap around …

Today nice tour driven over the Fernpass to Prutz. The weather has been great so far. Dry and warm despite the clouds. The tour is really fun, you constantly encounter another highlight.

Although we cast a critical eye towards the sky in the morning, we set off in the drizzle with confidence in view of the upcoming 70 km and the corresponding elevation gain. Pretty much right from the start things went steadily uphill. Thanks to the well-paved paths, we …

Booked a nice, inexpensive room in Fendels. The only downside was the location (see elevation profile). Compared to the ride up to Fendels, the Fern Pass and Rechenpass were nothing. 32 degrees Celsius and the steep switchbacks up were too much for my bike. I only continued after a cooling-off break. 😡

This morning it was still cool at around 14°C, but it quickly warmed up and by the afternoon it was even 33°C, wonderful. …

Today, after a very good breakfast, we set off early. Rain was forecast for the afternoon, and it came, but we stayed dry.

From the hotel, we headed straight uphill toward the Fernpass. The paths and gradients were manageable, and there were very few cyclists around. The descent to Nassereith was challenging. We reached the Inn River via Tarrenz and …
