Mendel Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The winding Mendel Pass road, with a maximum gradient of around seven percent, features a total of fifteen hairpin bends. A drive up the Mendel Pass was, and still is, a special experience. Breathtaking views of the vineyards of the Überetsch region and the Dolomite mountains are guaranteed. Unfortunately, these views aren't fully appreciated when driving, so it was decided to close the Mendel Pass road to traffic for one day, allowing cyclists and walkers to enjoy the pass at a leisurely pace. Refreshments will be provided for participants along the route!

View of Lake Caldaro

Highlight • Viewpoint

Along the hairpin bends of the Mendola state road, which leads to the pass of the same name, you can enjoy a splendid view of Lake Caldaro. Situated several hundred meters below, Lake Caldaro is a small body of water nestled in the greenery.

Didn't do such a long tour today.
Nevertheless, there were challenges.
Right on the first 27km there was 2000hm to overcome.
First via the Mändelpassstrasse, where we made a restorative stop and had something to eat and drink.
Then on to Monte Roen.
There were another 800hm to the summit.
Of course there were both uphill and downhill pushing passages. …

Presumably the last "long" tour of the over-2000 year (both in terms of altitude and altitude difference pedaled). Mendola, Roen, Graunerjoch (unfortunately the descent to Testa Nera was stepped) and then all the possible cuts of the Forestale that goes up from the valley floor (I didn't remember some passages and especially the very stony and slippery ground being so …

With the cable car to the Mendola Pass and then we went to Mont Roen.
The last 300Hm were hard to drive, very steep and loose scree.
You were rewarded with a breathtaking view with steep rock faces🤩.
You can actually take photos all the time because you are so fascinated by the landscape of South Tyrol.
The descent was …

Another tour to end the vacation 😅🤩

Today we went up the Roen, followed by trails back to Tramin.
14km of singletrack, 2000m elevation gain 💪

We used the Mendelbahn cable car for the climb, so we had a loss of 850m elevation gain.

Really cool tour, with tough climbs ✌️👋

The uphill to the Roenspitze is unfortunately a long sliding passage, approx. 350 hm. Parts of the downhill were not rideable for me either. But the all-round view from above is terrific ☺️

Hey,

another mega tour on Tramin's local mountain.

Challenging trails, really cool :-)

850m of elevation again with the funicular.

Pictures to follow.
