Highlight • Settlement

Kranjska Gora is a well-known hotspot for winter and summer sports. The downhill routes are legendary. If you want something more dignified, the train bike path to Tarvisio in Italy is a nice option. A little outside of the village towards the Vršičpass there is the wonderfully clear Lake Jasna, which offers great refreshment, especially after an extended bike tour.

There are numerous accommodations for every budget in the village.

Mojstrana – Kranjska Gora Cycle Route (D-2)
One of the most beautiful cycling routes is the Upper Sava Route, which runs along the former railway line from Mojstrana to Italy via Kranjska Gora.
Officially called the Jure Robič Cycle Route, it is already known as the best, most famous and longest cycle route in Gorenjska. It is officially marked D-2.
It runs from Jesenice to the Rateče border crossing and has a total length of about 28 km. From here you can continue to Italy towards Trbiž, past Žabnica to Ponteba, or turn left immediately after the border and follow the path that leads to the beautiful Weissenfels Lakes. The cycle route follows the former route of the railway line, which was closed in 1966. From Mojstrana, the path gently winds its way up through the Upper Sava Valley and climbs 255 meters to Rateče. It offers beautiful views of the surrounding valley, and there are well-equipped rest areas along the route, including one where you can have a drink and a bite to eat.

Crown Prince Rudolf Rail Trail

Highlight • Cycleway

Behind Jesinece, the Crown Prince Rudolf Railway Cycle Route begins – part of the Jure Robić Cycle Route. The well-marked route (D2) leads steadily uphill, and with a little imagination, you can imagine how a railway once ran here.

It was certainly a challenging tour, with those gradients, but I don't believe it was supposed to be 25%—maybe 18%. We were rewarded with wonderful mountain views, a green wedding in the chapel at the mountain hut, delicious food, a rapid descent, and beautiful railway bike paths. The weather cooperated. Wonderful.

Combined bike tour from Mojnstrana with a walk to the waterfall. Unfortunately, Komoot GPS failure again and again, up to 25% on dead-end road, wavy with recovery sections, at the end "only" view upwards of mountains, no all-round view. Until K.J. on a continuously paved bike path off the road, slightly uphill. Again and again views of the adjacent mountains …
