Menai Suspension Bridge

Out of the two bridges that span the Menai Straits, this is the nicest to cycle across. Built by Thomas Telford in 1826, this suspension bridge is Grade I listed.

The completion of the bridge in 1826 made the island accessible via road for the first time. The beautiful bridge was promoted to UNESCO as a candidate World Heritage site in 2005.

A short walk around the church cemetery affords wonderful views of the Menai Strait, both bridges and Ynys Gorad Goch island, whose residents once made a living from the fish caught at the traps built there.
