Zakynthos National Marine Park Beach

The National Marine Park of Zakynthos (Greek: Ethniko Thalassio Parko Zakynthou) is an important protected area in the south of the island of Zakynthos, founded in 1999 to protect the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta).

The park encompasses the Bay of Laganas and protects six important nesting beaches with a total length of approximately 5.5 km.

Laganas beach is one of the longest and busiest sandy beaches on the island. It stretches for about 9 kilometers along the south coast and is particularly known for two things: its role as an important nesting site for the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) and its vibrant nightlife.

The beach offers fine, golden sand and very shallow, warm water, making it particularly family-friendly.
