May 17, 2026,Obere Roßalpe & Vilsalpsee 🏔️
We actually didn't really know where our tour should go at first. However, after a lot of snow had fallen again in the last few days, we spontaneously decided to hike to the Obere Roßalpe – and that was definitely a really good decision 😊

The tour is very nice and what I think is good, there are not many people on this route. (Except the piece from Vilsalpsee to Tannheim)
At the Oberen Roßaple you can have a nice beer, there isn't much going on and the family is very friendly and looks forward to your visit.

The more strenuous option to the Vilsalpsee - but also the much more beautiful one. A real insider tip for hiking!

It starts at the Kienzen car park just before Tannheim. First you walk a little along the road towards the lake before turning right onto a small path. This always leads along the Rossalpbach through the valley of the …

Many paths lead to the Vilsalpsee *laugh* and this is particularly little frequented.

Today's snowshoe tour was planned for the German Alpine Club (DAV).

Motto: Late riser tour! 😴😄
We started at 11 a.m. in Tannheim.

A DAV colleague and I led 11 well-rested snowshoeing enthusiasts, including @Thomas Lacher, through the pristine Rossalpbach Valley in the Tannheim Valley up to the Untere Rossalpe, where we took our first short break.

It's worth noting that it's not possible to circumnavigate Lake Vilsalpsee in its entirety. Due to the risk of rockfall, there is a permanent partial closure. Please be aware of this!
