"The Counts of Manderscheid are said to have owned a mill near Meisburg as early as the Middle Ages. The village itself was first mentioned in a document in 1229, and a mill then in 1346.
In 1522, Heinrich and Else von Meisburg bequeathed a mill on the Langen Salm (Lohsalm) to the Sankt Thomas monastery. In 1594, Abbess Margareta leased a mill below the village to the couple Theis and Luzia Hoffmann von Meisburg for a good mill pig or 5 guilders and 100 eggs, delivery date Christmas.
In 1922, the water-powered sawmill came into the possession of the Schneider family, who ran it commercially until 1968.
Eventually, weather conditions and wear and tear made repairs and renovation work on the sawmill necessary. These lasted from 1981 to 1988.
