Guild Fountain (Zunftbrunnen) Bad Segeberg

Highlight • Monument

Trainees from various trades in the Segeberg district craftsmen built the guild fountain in the pedestrian zone of Bad Segeberg in 1995. The walled water basin is adorned with 14 colored reliefs with crests of handicrafts. The fountain was originally crowned with a painted metal plate that represented a carpenter. Already when the fountain was inaugurated, this figure was felt to be too simple and therefore "disappointing". When the figure was destroyed by vandalism a few years later, the opportunity was taken to create a new, three-dimensional granite sculpture including a suitable base for the fountain. The new carpenter journeyman was inaugurated in 2001.

Numerous promotions and offers invite you to enjoy, participate and linger:

Hamburger Straße in new times
This year we had planned many campaigns for you again. Unfortunately, because of the corona pandemic, we had to postpone it now and plan it from scratch.
Shopping in Bad Segeberg despite Corona
We have done everything to ensure that you can stroll around Hamburger Straße again as quickly as possible - and even more:
With the active support of "Wir für Segeberg" (WfS) and the financial support of the city of Bad Segeberg and our many committed partners, a city garden has grown out of the well-known green zone this year Kirchstrasse and at the market.
We are also working together on solutions so that you can safely buy our products and services in the corona pandemic without having to forego the familiar comfort.

Janus Fountain Bad Segeberg

Highlight • Monument

In the middle of Bad Segeberg on the corner of Kurhausstraße and Kirchstraße is the Janusbrunnen, which everyone who shops in the city center can pass. The fountain was sponsored by the Volksbank and is therefore popularly called: credit guillotine.
With its height of four meters, the Janusbrunnen in the pedestrian zone of Bad Segeberg is a real heavyweight in a reduced design language. The sculptor Frauke Wehberg produced it in 1993 on behalf of the local Volksbank, which celebrated its anniversary. The two-faced Roman god Janus was the godfather, and so the fountain not only has two vertical columns, but also two pools of water pointing in different directions.

Before the pedestrian zone was established, this square, which has no name, was a very busy intersection. North to the Baltic Sea, west to Hamburg, Itzehoe, Neumünster and east to Lübeck. In 1914 the Segeberger advance society, today's Volksbank, had its representative bank building built on this square.

Rehder House Bad Segeberg

Highlight • Monument

The Rehder-Haus on the market square was built in 1900 as a central hotel, but changed its use again and again in the following decades. It already served as a hotel, café, soap shop, grill snack bar, as a cinema ("Central-Lichtspiele") and as the seat of the Schleswig-Holstein farmers' association.
