Mars - Planet Trail Melle

Highlight • Monument

A walk through the 20-hectare Grönenberg Park with a tree nature trail, ponds, deer park and bird aviaries is worthwhile in every season. The visible center is the "Grönenberg", on which the official prison stood until 1771 and today there is a memorial for the fallen, deceased and missing of the 1st and 2nd World Wars.
The Lower Saxony State Gymnastics School and the Local History Museum are located in the Grönenberg Park and are presented in old Lower Saxony half-timbered houses.
In the immediate vicinity is the Grönegau Bad, with a heated outdoor wave pool, which is open from mid-May to mid-September, and the indoor pool - closed during the summer holidays.
A miniature golf course, an adventure playground, tennis courts and a riding hall attract young and old.
This is where the Planetary Trail starts.
On the tree nature trail in the Grönenberg Park you will find old and particularly influential, as well as rare, young, native and foreign trees and shrubs. Ideal for a nature-oriented school lesson or simply as a short walk.
A sophisticated gastronomy completes the offer.

Grönegau Museum Melle in Grönenbergpark

Highlight • Historical Site

You can experience the former living and working worlds of the Grönegau in the historic half-timbered ensemble in the middle of the picturesque Meller Grönenberg Park. Here the Grönegau Museum Melle presents everyday village life and traditional handicrafts in the bakehouse, coop, granary and coach house: the impressive Boke mill for processing flax and fully equipped shoemaker, carpenter and blacksmith workshops bear witness to rural and handicraft traditions. The light is still on in the authentic, rustic oak kitchen – the family seems to have just left the room.

Clothes make the man – the rich collection of historical costume bonnets shows how people dressed appropriately for everyday and festive occasions.
