And if you're afraid of the waves in the Atlantic, just go swimming on the banks of the Ribera de Aljezur - absolutely quiet and fine sand. There is a nice beach restaurant (Paraiso Do Mar). We were there at the end of September and the end of May - absolutely quiet and only a few visitors. You can go hiking in the dunes and on the river banks and there is also a small nature trail.
